Slash joins Josh Homme, Iggy Pop and Lemmy in the cast of ‘loudest silent movie on Earth’

Guitarist becomes latest big-name addition to 'Gutterdämmerung'

Slash is the latest musician added to the cast of Gutterdämmerung, an upcoming film described as ‘the loudest silent movie on Earth’.

Based on the classic silent movies of the 1920s, the ‘mostly silent’ story will be soundtracked by a revolving cast of musicians, including Josh Homme, Iggy Pop, Motörhead’s Lemmy and more.

The film has been described as an “epic, loud and dark fairy tale” as well as “part rock show, part immersive cinema experience”.

According to a press release, Slash will start a quest for a “phallic tool of eternal torment”.

Grace Jones, Justice, Tom Araya, Volbeat, Mark Lanegan and Eagles Of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes will also feature in the film, plus German punk singer Nina Hagen.

The film has been conceptualised and directed by Belgian-Swedish visual artist Björn Tagemose, with a script co-written by musician Henry Rollins.

It tells the story of “a world where God has saved the world from sin by taking from mankind the Devil’s Grail of Sin… the Evil Guitar.”

The film is due for release at the end of 2015 and will also tour with a live band and a live narrator at the end of 2015/early 2016.
