Slaves cover LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’ – listen

The band also perform new song 'Live Like An Animal' in Radio 1 Maida Vale session

Slaves have covered LCD Soundsystem in a Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1.

The duo, who release their debut album ‘Are You Satisfied?’ on June 1, joined Huw Stephens, sitting in for Annie Mac, earlier this week. They performed latest single ‘Feed The Mantaray’, new album track ‘Live Like An Animal’, plus a rendition of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’.

Singer Isaac Holman said of new song ‘Live Like An Animal’: “I used to see the same homeless guy sitting around Tunbridge Wells, day in, day out. It was the height of summer and I saw him laying in the town centre, very drunk and he almost resembled a carcass rotting in the midday sun, so that kinda inspired this song.”

The band previously told NME the track was not a radio friendly one. Holman added: “We wanted to put it out as a single originally, but our A&R guy was just like, ‘I don’t think that’s gonna work’. It’s definitely a bit more of a serious one. There are a lot of tracks on the album that are sort of comical and very un-serious, but this is one of the ones that’s got more of a serious message.”
