Slayer cancel Sydney show following frontman’s hospitalisation

Tom Araya will be staying in hospital overnight

Slayer had to cancel their show today (February 27) at Sydney Showground after their frontman Tom Araya was taken to hospital.

According to, the hospitalisation happened just moments before the band were due onstage at the touring Australian Soundwave Festival.

Araya will be kept at the hospital overnight, but no further news of his condition has been released.

The promoter of the event, AJ Maddah, has confirmed that Araya “will be ok” for the next leg of the festival in Melbourne on March 4.

Iron Maiden, Queens Of The Stone Age and Slash are amongst the other acts playing Soundwave Festival.
