The Greek Orthodox Church try to ban the band from playing in Athens…
SLIPKNOT have been accused of promoting devil worship by the GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH.
The church is urging organisers to cancel the band’s appearance at Athens’ Lykavitos theatre on Monday (June 6).
“Public institutions must do their duty and protect Greek citizens from any public event that promotes Satanism,” the church said.
In a statement, they added: “The members of the band have a shocking appearance, wearing black uniforms and masks that look like skulls.”
Slipknot are currently on a world tour, which will hit Europe, Japan and the US.
The band will play the Download Festival 2005 – due to take place this weekend (June 10-12) at Donington Park.
