SLIPKNOT CAUSING CHAOS ACROSS THE UK

Fans injured, cities brought to standstills as the masked metallers continue on their UK tour...

A female fan is in hospital with suspected head and spinal injuries after a member of Iowa based metal band Slipknot stagedived from a 30 foot balcony onto the crowd during the band’s performance at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall last Wednesday (March 1).

A spokesperson for the band who was at the Wolverhampton show told nme.com: “It was Sid, the DJ who did it, although it is not unusual behaviour for him! He jumped of the London Astoria balcony (the band’s last London show on December 13 last year) and nobody got hurt, not even himself. The girl is being really cool about it and she doesn’t intend to press charges or sue, it just seems the world’s media have all found out!”

The band have been in the UK since Monday (February 28) to promote their debut UK single ‘Wait And Bleed’, released last week through Roadrunner. The song is taken from their eponymous debut album which was released last year.

Wolverhampton Civic Hall told press reporters that it had a ban on “what we call stage diving”, although this was usually more appropriate for fans, not performers.

Slipknot have been causing havoc nationwide all week. A signing session in Manchester brought the city centre to a standstill after over one thousand people turned up to the Virgin Megastore on Tuesday afternoon (February 29). HMV Manchester had previously refused to let the signing take place because of fears over the number of people that may turn up.

Slipknot appear on Channel 4’s TFI Friday tonight (Friday 3, 6pm) before going on to play at Portsmouth Guidhall later on. The band then play Bristol Anson Rooms before ending their UK tour at London Brixton Academy this Sunday (March 5). They then embark on a European tour.
