Slipknot finish gig after new bassist is rushed to hospital mid-set

Alessandro Venturella was taken ill on Sunday night (August 2)

Slipknot‘s new bassist Alessandro Venturella was taken to hospital during the metal band’s recent live show in Hartford, Connecticut.

The group played the show in question on Sunday night (August 2) with Venturella exiting the stage mid-set and being rushed away in an ambulance.

It’s not yet known what the cause for the emergency was but frontman Corey Taylor told the crowd during the show: “I’m going to let you know what’s going on right now. I’m sorry to say that something happened with our bass player Alex. We’re not sure what happened. He’s been put into an ambulance and he’s going to the hospital right now as we speak.”

Taylor continued: “Make some noise for him and send him some fucking love. We had the choice to come back out year. We’ve had to modify some shit but we’re gonna keep on playing for you. It’s what we want, it’s what Alex would want.”

Watch footage from the show below and a video the band uploaded to Twitter of fans chanting Venturella’s name.

Venturella, a former guitarist for British band Krokodil and guitar tech for Mastodon, joined the band in 2014 along with former Against Me! drummer Jay Weinberg following the death of bassist Paul Gray and departure of drummer Joey Jordison.
