Slipknot named as first headline act for Download Festival 2015

Judas Priest, Black Stone Cherry and Five Finger Death Punch also confirmed for Donington Park festival

Slipknot have been confirmed as the first headline act for Download Festival 2015.

The masked metal band will headline the Friday night of next year’s event, which runs between June 12-14. This will mark Slipknot’s third time as Download headliners while Judas Priest have been confirmed as the main support on the festival’s first night.

Speaking about his band’s upcoming appearance, Corey Taylor of Slipknot says: “Being invited back to Download always feels like coming home. Headlining Download, for the 3rd time, feels like the culmination of a life’s dream. It’s an honor, a privilege and we’re all looking forward to it.”

In addition to Slipknot and Judas Priest, it has also been confirmed that Black Stone Cherry and Five Finger Death Punch will play Download Festival 2015 on June 12. The identity of the other two headliners are expected to be announced later this week.

Download Festival 2014 took place at Donington Park between June 13-15 this year with headline performances from Avenged Sevenfold, Aerosmith and Linkin Park.

Those who can’t wait to see Slipknot at Download 2015 will be able to see the band when they tour the UK in January 2015 with support band Korn. The Prepare For Hell tour will kick off in Sheffield on January 16 and also take in dates throughout Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Cardiff and Nottingham before finishing up in Birmingham on January 27.
