Slipknot return to the studio following Joey Jordison’s departure

Guitarist Jim Root shares recording shot with fans

Slipknot have returned to the studio following the recent departure of drummer Joey Jordison.

Founder member Joey Jordison quit the band in December, raising questions about their future, but frontman Corey Taylor subsequently denied that the band were splitting up in a tweet.

Now guitarist Jim Root has posted an image on Instagram from the recording studio. The picture shows Root holding his guitar in front of a mixing desk and includes the hashtag #slipknot2014.

When Jordison parted ways with the group he cited “personal reasons” as his motivation, but Jordison subsequently released a statement in which he claimed he did not “abandon” the group.

Last June, Slipknot dropped hints that they would be returning with new material as they headlined the opening night of Download Festival. The band’s last album ‘All Hope Is Gone’ was released in 2008, before bassist Paul Gray’s death, and they have never confirmed that they will be recording another LP.
