Slowthai wins DICE Live Award 2019

"I've gotta get a mirror that shows the whole crowd themselves."

Slowthai has been named as the winner of the DICE Live Award for 2019, following in the esteemed footsteps of Wolf Alice, Little Simz, Loyle Carner and Dave.

The Northampton rapper’s victory comes as he prepares for huge success in 2019, having released his second EP and headed out on tour with Slaves last year.

Speaking about his plans for the year ahead, Slowthai told DICE: “For the live shows, I just want to expand on what we’ve already done. This year I want to give people the time to reflect and see that they’re the only person they should put on a pedestal and they’re the only person they should idolise.

“I’ve gotta get a mirror that shows the whole crowd themselves.”

DICE’s head of music Jason Edwards said: ““Slowthai is a great example of how live music can be so powerful. Fans can stream his tracks and watch his (amazing) videos but it’s impossible to get a sense of an artist like this until you’ve experienced them in the sweaty, loud, chaotic flesh.  I saw him play The Underworld last year and was blown away, can’t wait to see more in 2019.”

Later this year, Slowthai will also head out on his biggest UK tour to date – which includes a show at London’s York Hall. Check out the dates in full below and buy tickets here via DICE.
