PUMPKINS GET HITS OUT

And that's not all, Billy Corgan has said there will be two DVD releases and an outtakes album...

The SMASHING PUMPKINS are to release a greatest hits album, as well as an outtakes record and two DVDs over the next twelve months, it has been reported.

According to MTV news in the US, former Pumpkins mainman Billy Corgan was the surprise guest at a Smashing Pumpkins tribute concert at the Chicago Metro last Saturday (July 6).

He told the crowd that a greatest hits record was in the pipeline for later in the year, as was a limited-edition B-sides compilation, which will also feature outtakes from the sessions which produced the band’s ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’, ‘Adore’ and ‘Machina/The Machines of God’ albums.

In addition, 2 DVDs are scheduled for release in 2002. It is likely the DVD releases will contain both promotional videos, as well as live footage recorded during the band’s farewell tour.

A UK spokesperson for the band was unavailable this morning to confirm any UK release dates for the new records.
