BLACK SABBATH guitarist TONY IOMMI has approached DAVE GROHL and BILLY CORGAN to play as part of his live band.
Iommi has recently released a solo album, ‘Iommi’, which featured a stellar line-up of guests stars, including Henry Rollins, Skunk Anansie singer Skin, as well as the Smashing Pumpkins and Foo Fighters frontmen.
Speaking to Metal Hammer magazine, Iommi said he approached both with a view to live shows later in the year. He said: “I’m hoping to play some solo gigs, maybe by February. I’ve been out in the States doing promotion for the album, and now I just want to get out on the road. It’s looking pretty good, most of the people I’ve spoken to are up for doing it, it’s just a case of sorting out everybody’s schedules.
“When I was in Los Angeles, I got together with Dave Grohl and he seemed interested, and when I got home to England I spoke to Billy Corgan who was playing over here. He seemed pretty keen as well… my plan is to get a stable line-up first, and then bring in various guest vocalists.”
