Smashing Pumpkins have shared their new video for ‘Run2Me.’
The track is taken from their ninth album ‘Monuments to an Elegy’, which was released in December last year.
The video was directed by Linda Strawberry, a long term collaborator with frontman Billy Corgan. Speaking to Vulture about the new video, Strawberry explained that it was inspired by the ‘Magician’ tarot card, which represents the alchemy of fear within a relationship.
“The girl in the video is both enlightened and trapped by this theme,” she said. “The Magician is symbolic of transition and inspiration, while the protagonist in the video is afraid of who she is about to become, she learns, accepts and then lets go of whatever was holding her back.”

Earlier this year, Smashing Pumpkins embarked on an acoustic tour of the US, with Corgan promising the setlist would touch on every era of the band’s career.
Taking the opportunity to showcase their early days, Corgan played debut album ‘Gish’ in medley form during a gig at Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall in Munhall, Pennsylvania on June 16.
After the medley Corgan suggested they should do the band’s entire catalogue in the same fashion and began playing ‘Siamese Dream’ album track ‘Geek USA’. Watch footage from the gig here.
