Producer says Snoop is 'singing and doing a fucking awesome job'

Snoop Dogg is making a reggae album with Diplo, according to reports.

MTV reports that he producer – who has previously worked with the likes of MIA and Beyonce – has revealed that he and the rapper are hard at work on his new LP and that the new musical direction was sounding “fucking awesome”.

“Snoop Dogg is an icon, man; he’s bigger than the music. What we’re doing is a reggae record,” he said, before adding:

It’s all reggae and he’s singing and he’s doing a fucking awesome job and I never knew it, but he had his heart in every song.

Diplo, who also revealed that he and Snoop would be hitting the studio again in April, went on to say: “We’re going to get back into the production of it next month, and I’m really proud of that record. It’s the first record I’ve ever executive-produced and his crew is amazing.”

Last week, Snoop said he would be “re-born” on his next album. The hip-hop star said that despite begin 11 solo albums into his career, his fans have yet to see the real him, but he hopes that will change with his next record. “This record gives me an opportunity to the world of the stadium,” he said. “Those are the kind of songs that last 40, 50 years.” He released his last album, ‘Doggumentary’, in March 2011.
