Snoop Dogg, P Diddy and Warren G pay tribute to Nate Dogg at SXSW

Rappers join forces for live show in Austin

Snoop Dogg, P Diddy and Warren G joined forces to pay tribute to Nate Dogg on stage last night (March 19) at the South By Southwest festival.

Snoop hosted his Funk N’ Soul Extravaganza event at the Whitley venue at the Austin festival. The three performed Nate Dogg‘s song ‘Regulate’, which Warren G originally appeared on.

Nate Dogg died on Tuesday aged 41.

Speaking to Billboard, Snoop talked about how hard he was finding it coming to terms with his friend’s death.

“That’s like my brother,” he said. “Me and Nate were friends since 1986, so it’s a little bit deeper… this is somebody who started with me.”

He added: “We dreamed the same dream and our dreams came true, and now he’s no longer with us. So it’s a little hard to deal with, but in the spirit of Nate Dogg we’re dealing with it because we know he would want us to celebrate and have a good time. That’s the spirit he possessed.”

Snoop played older hits including ‘Lodi Dodi’ and ‘Tha Shiznit’ as well as recent efforts ‘I Wanna Rock’ and ‘Wet’ plus his Dr Dre collaboration, ‘The Next Episode’.

He was also joined by remixer Mayer Hawthorne for the first time live.
