Snoop Dogg to be focus of new US reality TV series

Rapper will line-up alongside Birdman and Jermaine Dupri is series focussing on the business side of hip-hop

Snoop Dogg is set to feature in a brand new reality series on the BET network.

Starring alongside fellow rappers Birdman and Jermaine Dupri (pictured below), as well as Jay-Z’s former manager Damon Dash, the unscripted program is expected to premiere in late 2016.

The filming of the eight-episode series will begin in Los Angeles next month, focusing on the ensemble’s respective lives: “From family to business to their love lives, the series will be packed with drama, laughs and hashtag-worthy one-liners,” BET promise in a statement on their website.

This isn’t Snoop’s first foray into reality TV: the Long Beach rapper previously had his own family-based reality show on E! (Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood) from 2007-09, whilst the five-part documentary series Snoop & Son: A Dad’s Dream followed the rapper’s son Cordell Broadus’ attempts to break into the NFL and aired earlier this year on ESPN.

Snoop, Birdman, Dash and Dupri are not the first celebrities to have had their lives featured in a BET reality series: Nelly, DeSean Jackson and Michael Vick have all invited the entertainment network’s cameras into their private lives in recent years.

Snoop Dogg is hosting the BET Music Awards in Atlanta, GA on Tuesday (13th October). He released his thirteenth studio album, Bush, in May.
