The rapper follows Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl and Lady Gaga
Snoop Dogg has been announced as the keynote speaker at SXSW Music 2015.
The rapper and actor will address the industry conference in Austin, Texas on Friday, March 20 at 11am in the Austin Convention Center.
“Multi-platinum artist, actor and entertainment icon Snoop Dogg is at the forefront of popular culture with award-winning albums and songs, multiple films, lifestyle products, philanthropic efforts, and digital ventures, including his YouTube original series ‘GGN News’,” reads a press release. Snoop has sold 30 million albums and released 12 LPs.
Previous keynote talks have come from Bruce Springsteen (2012), Dave Grohl (2013) and Lady Gaga (2014). Also at SXSW this month, Arcade Fire’s Win and Will Butler will talk about music economy with Nobel prize-winning economist Paul Krugman.
The panel discussion will be about “the celebrity economy in music” and will question how artists are to make a living in the future. It will also include Berger Management’s Nicky Berger, Nielsen’s Tatiana Simonian, and Grantland’s Rembert Browne. The event will take place on March 19 at 12.30pm at the Austin Convention Center.
Last week, NME announced the acts set to play its evening showcase at SXSW 2015. Girl Band, Happyness and Hinds are set to play the event, which takes place on March 21 at The British Music Embassy/Latitude 30.
