The couple have been dating since last November, after they were introduced to each other by Ed Sheeran, who shared a house with McDaid for a year. The singer-songwriter told OMG! Insider: “I wasn’t allowed to talk about this, but they’ve gone public, so… I introduced Johnny to Courteney, they started dating and they’re crazy about each other.” Sheeran became friends with Cox after renting a beach house in California from her.
McDaid became friends with Sheeran after writing songs for him, having also penned songs for One Direction and Example. Snow Patrol are currently on a break for solo projects, but are expected to begin recording a new album at the end of 2014 to follow 2011’s ‘Fallen Empires’.
Cox married actor David Arquette in 1999, with their divorce finalised in May 2013 after a two-year separation. Since Friends, she has starred in four series of the sitcom Cougar Town as well as being reunited with her Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow in the sketch show Web Therapy.
