So Solid Crew have hit out at the “draconian measures” that have seen the plug pulled on their upcoming UK tour over safety fears.

In a brief statement released this morning, the south London collective make it clear the 11-date tour was cancelled “against the group’s wishes”. They say they are “shocked” at the actions of “worried promoters and nervous authorities”. The group claim class snobbery is to blame.

“The artists feel that there has been a massive over-reaction from the various authorities because they hail from the underground Garage scene and not the usual route of pop or rock bands,” they say. “There was understandable concern after the recent shooting incident at London’s Astoria club. However, So Solid Crew were confident that they had implemented the necessary security measures to ensure that there would be no health or safety concerns for their fans,” they add.

The band have again also drawn parallels between the cancellation of Sex Pistols shows in 1976 and their own treatment.
