Solange says she, Beyonce and Jay Z are ‘at peace’ following statement on lift incident

Singer says 'my family and I are all good'

Solange Knowles has broken her silence over the apparent altercation between her and brother-in-law Jay Z.

In May, footage appeared of Solange appearing to attack Jay Z in a lift at New York’s Standard Hotel while Beyonce looked on. Since the incident, the three musicians have published a joint statement in which they said they have “moved forward as a united family”.

Speaking to Lucky magazine, and referring to the incident only as “that thing”, Solange says: “What’s important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.”

On her relationship with sister Beyonce, she said the pair had “always held each other down no matter what.”

At the end of June, Jay Z made a reference to TMZ, the website that first published footage of his argument with Solange, at the BET Awards, rapping: “Left the curtains open for the paparazzi, a little TMI for you, TMZ.”

Beyonce and Jay Z presented a united front at their On The Run show in Philadelphia on Saturday, where the couple hugged and kissed onstage after performing ‘Forever Young’. It followed speculation on the state of their marriage when Beyonce changed the lyrics of the song ‘Resentment’ from “Been riding with you for six years,” to “Been riding with you for 12 years/Why did I deserve to be treated this way by you?“. She also changed the line, “Like I couldn’t do it for you like your mistress could,” to “Like I couldn’t do it for you like that wack bitch could.”
