Solange reveals health issues after cancelling Afropunk performance

The 'A Seat At The Table' artist disclosed the diagnosis to fans in a lengthy post on Instagram

Solange has opened up about being recently diagnosed with an autonomic disorder after cancelling her forthcoming headline slot at Afropunk Johannesburg.

The artist, who released her acclaimed third studio album ‘A Seat At The Table’ in September 2016, revealed her ongoing health issues in a lengthy post on Instagram yesterday (December 27).

Writing that she ‘wrote, deleted and re wrote this [statement] like 5 times’, Solange goes on to say in the post that she has been “quietly treating and working through” an autonomic disorder since July.

It [has] been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me,” she said. “Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all. It’s a complicated diagnosis, and I’m still learning so much myself, but right now, my doctors are not clearing me for such an extended lengthy flight, and doing a rigorous show right after.”

Solange has cancelled her upcoming headline slot at Afropunk festival in Johannesburg, South Africa as a result of the diagnosis, with the artist having been due to perform at the event on New Year’s Eve (December 31).

Last month, Solange handpicked a “musical family” to appear alongside her in a recent Calvin Klein ad – “Our Family, #MYCALVINS” – campaign.
