The shoegazing night moves to the home of the scene's prime movers, Oxford...
LONDON’s hugely popular shoegazing revival night SONIC CATHEDRAL is going on the road to OXFORD, which was home to two of the scene’s prime movers, RIDE and SWERVEDRIVER, back in the early ’90s.
Appropriately, former Ride singer/guitarist Mark Gardener is playing live, backed by Goldrush. Gardener will be playing some old favourites and also previewing new material from his debut solo album, ‘These Beautiful Ghosts’, which is released in the US in October and hits UK stores early next year. Gardener will then set off for a long Stateside jaunt supporting Ride fans Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
As well as some surprise guest DJs, also on the bill in Oxford are rising nu-gazers Engineers, who will be warming up for their appearances at the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals the following weekend.
Sonic Cathedral takes place on Wednesday August 24 at The Cellar, Frewin Court, Oxford and runs from 8pm-2am. Tickets are £5 in advance from [url=]here
or £6 on the door.
