Former SPANDAU BALLET singer TONY HADLEY is to take on newsman JOHN PIENAAR in the next bout of celebrity boxing to be aired on TV.
The 80’s pop idol and the BBC political correspondent will get in the ring in the ring in February, if they prove themselves fit enough. Previous celebrity boxing matches have featured ‘The Office’ star Ricky Gervais beating Grant Bovey, husband of TV presenter Anthea Turner, and funnyman Bob Mortimer triumph over quiz show host Les Dennis.
Prize money from the fight, which will be aired later in the year, will go to charity.
The bouts have previously been criticised by the British Boxing Board Of Control, which claimed they were potentially dangerous because they might promote unlicensed fighting.
