Spinal Tap reform for Live Earth

Spoof band do their bit for the environment

Spoof rock outfit Spinal Tap are reforming for the climate change concert Live Earth.

The heavy metal group, subject of the classic 1984 “rockumentary” ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, join the bill for the London Wembley Stadium show on July 7.

The band – played by actors Michael McKean as David St Hubbins, Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel and Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls – have also made a 10-minute film, to be screened at the gig.

It shows director Rob Reiner bringing the band together to promote the eco-friendly event, the brainchild of former US vice-president Al Gore.

The movie shows the bandmembers gradually embracing the concept of climate change.

Other acts confirmed for the Wembley Stadium show are Madonna, Beastie Boys, Genesis, Foo Fighters and Razorlight.
