Spiritualized and Sum 41 are to play gigs as part of NME’s 50th anniversary celebrations, NME.COM can announce.

This year marks 50 years since NME was first published, and 2002 will be full of NME 5.0 events to celebrate our anniversary. The NME 5.0 celebrations kick off this week with the NME Carling Tour, followed by next month’s NME Carling Shows and our annual NME Carling Awards.

Spiritualized and Sum 41 are the first bands to announce NME 5.0 shows.

Spiritualized play London Brixton Academy on March 8 and tickets are priced £16.50. Canadian pop-punks Sum 41 play the same venue on March 7, with tickets priced £14.
