Spoon performed the final set at the Wanderlust Festival tonight (July 26), bringing the first annual event – which combined music and yoga for three days in Lake Tahoe, California – to a close.
Britt Daniel and company got the crowd dancing, playing several tunes from their most recent album, ‘Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga’. The singer said that he was feeling inspired by the healthy-looking crowd, many of whom were dressed in their yoga gear.
“There are some very healthy-looking people out there,” Daniel said. “We’re not used to it. You guys look good. I’m seriously reconsidering my lifestyle,” he quipped.
In addition to ‘You Got Yr Cherry Bomb’ and ‘Isla Forever’, the band played a stellar cover of Paul Simon‘s ‘Peace Like A River’.
The Austin quartet gave it their all as the sun went down over the mountain tops, and thanked the audience for coming out “to this intimate affair”.
When introducing Spoon, festival organisers promised to return to put on a second-annual Wanderlust Festival in 2010.
“We’ll see you next year,” they said. “If you come back again, we will too.”
