Spotify launches iPhone and Android apps today (Sept 7)

Premium users can now stream music 'anywhere they want'

Spotify has launched two mobile phone applications this morning (September 7).

The music streaming service is now available on Apple‘s iPhone and Google‘s Android via the respective app stores.

The Spotify application is free to download, although users must subscribe to the site’s premium service via a monthly or annual subscription to use it.

The new applications allow users to stream millions of tracks in the Spotify catalogue and download playlists for “offline” use.

“This is a hugely significant day in Spotify‘s short history,” declared Gustav Soderstrom, Spotify‘s director of portable solutions. “Since our launch last October, we’ve worked hard to provide our users with a high quality service that gives them access to whatever music they want, whenever they want it.

“As of today our users can access that music where they want, providing them with the best of both the online and offline worlds. We’ve now made it even easier to listen to all the world’s music, anywhere on the planet.”
