And James Walsh has a few words for Oasis...

STARSAILOR debuted their new material at an exclusive fans-only show in MANCHESTER last night (August 16).

The show, at the Life Café, was attended by around 300 competition winners who had applied through local station Century Radio, and websites, including NME.COM.

Also in attendance were Doves’ Jimi Goodwin, Elbow and former Primal Scream singer Denise Johnson. It served as a warm-up for the band’s appearances at the V2002 festival this weekend.

The band performed a new song, ‘Silence Is Easy’, which, as previously reported on NME.COM, they are recording with legendary producer Phil Spector.

The track is in the heavier vein of ‘Poor Misguided Fool’ and features the chorus refrain, [I]”silence is easy, it just becomes me”.

During the show, signer James Walsh made light of his recent ‘spat’ with Oasis, joking, “Noel Gallagher was complaining that nobody’s sent him any flowers (after his car crash in the US). I’ll send you some! Ever since his brother called me a twat, my profile’s gone through the roof! I’d never been in The Sun, The Star and The Mirror before! Cheers Liam!”

The full set-list was:

‘Poor Misguided Fool’

‘Silence Is Easy’

‘Love Is Here’

‘Born Again’

‘Way To Fall’

‘Tie Up My Hands’

‘Stand By Me’

‘Good Souls’

Starsailor play the main stage at the V2002 festivals, at Weston Park, Staffordshire today (August 17) and Hylands Park, Chelmsford tomorrow (August 18).
