Stefflon Don wins Best New Artist supported by Vans at the VO5 NME Awards 2018

Stefflon Don has won the Best New Artist supported by Vans award at the VO5 NME Awards 2018.

Stefflon Don, who opened the ceremony by performing ‘Ding-A-Ling’ with Skepta, said: “Oh my gosh guys!

“Thanks for the support man, it’s been an amazing year. I want to big up my squad and my management. Thank you so much! This is for the women. Big up the UK.”

The Birmingham rapper, whose real name is Stephanie Allen, released her debut single ‘Real Ting’ in 2016, but broke through last year with tracks like ’16 Shots’ and ‘Hurtin’ Me’ – the latter of which was a collaboration with French Montana.

Going into tonight’s ceremony, Lorde and Charli XCX led the pack with four nominations each. They were closely followed by Dua Lipa and Kasabian, who both scored three nods apiece.

Alt-J have also treated the audience to a version of their track ‘In Cold Blood’. Pale Waves, who are set to pick up the NME Under The Radar Award supported by HMV, will also perform later in the night.

Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson has collected her NME Icon Award, while grime crew Boy Better Know will also pick up the Innovation award.
