Stellastarr* part with label

NYC rockers seek new home for forthcoming album

Stellastarr* have parted ways with their former record label and are seeking a new home for their forthcoming album, singer Shawn Christensen has told NME.COM.

This will not slow things down for the New York rockers, who are in the midst of writing their third full-length album and will tour the US next month, Christensen said.

He said: “This won’t affect the progress of our new record. We’re just really having fun writing it. Everything else will fall into place eventually.”

Christensen disclosed that Stellastarr*’s decision to leave RCA – which released the band’s first two full-length albums – was prompted by the merger of its parent company with another major label.

“It was sad to watch a label that was doing perfectly fine on its own suddenly change their entire structure. Different people were running the show and we weren’t profiting from any of it,” he said.

Now, Stellastarr* are “flirting” with other labels, but are focusing primarily on writing solid material and putting on “sweat-drenched” shows for their fans.

As previously announced, the band have posted a demo of their new song ‘Warchild’ on their MySpace page.

Christensen said that the new material is “a bit more raw and urgent. It’s more aggressive”.

The quartet have just added dates to their February US jaunt after selling out several shows.
