After missing out on appearing in the first 'Harry Potter' film, the former Boyzone star sets his sights on making an appearance in the sequel...

STEPHEN GATELY is to make yet another attempt to appear in a ‘HARRY POTTER’ film, after plans to star in the first came to nothing.

“I know they’re casting for the second ‘Harry Potter’ film at the moment and I’m going to try to go for it,” he tells worldpop. “I really want to be in it, even if I’m just an extra or something. I’ve seen the trailer for the first one and it looks amazing. I’m getting my book signed by J K Rowling next week and I’m so excited!”

Gately, whose current single, ‘Stay’, is expected to slip out of the Top 20 on Sunday, is also interested in contributing songs to the soundtrack. He’s also been pencilled in for a role in the next series of sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous’, explaining, “The plot is that Edina wants to be my PR and we’re in a bar when she sings a song she’s written for me. She’s really drunk and it’s really funny. I’d love to do more acting in the future.”

Last week Stephen explained to NME.COM that he would have considered murder in order to appear in the first ‘Harry Potter’ film, saying: “Yeah, I’d kill for a part in that. I think the books are brilliant. I’ve been into magic books since I was a kid, reading Enid Blyton and stuff like that. The ‘Harry Potter’ books have been such a success and I think the film’s going to be such a success and go down in history.”
