STEREOPHONICS WITNNESS ANOTHER FESTIVAL

The Welsh rockers have just enough education to perform in Ireland in August...

STEREOPHONICS have exclusively revealed to NME.COM that they will be playing WITTNESS FESTIVAL in IRELAND this summer.

Speaking during a video interview prior to the band’s MTV ‘Five Night Stand’ gig in London yesterday (April 18), bassist Richard Jones confirmed their round of summer festivals is set to expand.

“We’re gonna do T In The Park, the Wittness Festival up in Ireland and two big festivals for us- Donington Racecourse and Cardiff Millennium Stadium,” he said.

Although details for this year’s Wittness have not yet been confirmed, last year’s two-day event took place in August at Fairyhouse Racecourse in County Meath, and there is speculation that this year’s will be held on August 4-5.

As revealed on NME.COM, Stereophonics were forced to move the Chepstow leg of the ‘Day At The Races’ to the 50,000-capacity Cardiff Millennium Stadium, the location of the Manic Street Preachers‘ Millennium Eve extravaganza.

And apologising for the fact that people with camping tickets would have to get a refund and make other arrangements, Richard joked that alternatives would be available: “You can either camp in Cardiff railway station or pitch your tent in Stuart’s back garden – it’s only 20 miles away!”
