STEREOPHONICS narrowly averted destroying the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms at their gig there last night (Sunday October 25).
The damage happened when the band took to the stage – which is on the first floor – and the 1000-odd crowd started leaping up and down. Bar staff downstairs started noticing pieces of the ceiling falling off, and after being told of the situation, the band asked for the audience to keep calm.
The band continued playing their set, and no further damage was caused. It’s not known how much damage was done or whether the venue will need to close while repairs are undertaken.
When contacted by NME.com, Edinburgh Assembly Rooms management refused to comment.
