Steve Mason at Glastonbury: ‘Damon Albarn should’ve given the headline slot to someone else’ – video

Former Beta Band man berates Albarn for playing the Pyramid Stage two years in a row

Steve Mason has said Damon Albarn should not have headlined Glastonbury two years in a row.

NME caught up with Mason, who played Glastonbury’s Park Stage on (June 25), to discuss U2 pulling out and Gorillaz stepping in. Watch the full interview video on the right of your screen now.

“I couldn’t explain to you how little interest I had in whether U2 played or not. I could not care less,” said ex-Beta Band man Mason. “The only thing that’s bad is that Albarn got to have a headline when he had one last year. He should have given it to someone else.”
