Stevie Nicks: ‘Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’ video made me cry’

Ex-Fleetwood Mac singer says clip reminded her of split with Lindsey Buckingham

Former Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks has revealed that she was reduced to tears while watching the video for Katy Perry‘s new single ‘The One That Got Away’.

According to Jam, Nicks – who provided the narration for the teaser clip of the track – said it reminded her of her split to former lover and Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham.

Speaking about the first time she saw the video, which depicts an elderly woman reminiscing about a past relationship, she said:

About a minute in, I just began to cry. It reminded me of my own life and losses, and of the last fight that Lindsey Buckingham and I had.

Nicks released her seventh studio album ‘In Your Dreams’ in May of this year. It was her first LP in a decade, since the release of 2001’s ‘Trouble In Shangri-La’.

Last month, Lindsey Buckingham dampened hopes of a Fleetwood Mac reunion in 2012 by suggesting that the chances of the band recording a new album and playing live shows were unlikely.

Although the guitarist conceded that the band would “do something in the future”, he said that the group had “nothing on the books” scheduled to take place next year. He released his new solo album, ‘Seeds We Sow’, in September.
