Dave Navarro, Travis Barker and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic lead tributes to Scott Weiland

Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman passed away in his sleep

Musicians Scott Weiland has worked with, those who were his contemporaries and those he inspired have all paid tribute to the former Stone Temple Pilots frontman following his death overnight.

As reported, Weiland was found dead on his tour bus during a stop in Minnesota. He was 48.

The news was confirmed via Weiland’s Facebook page this morning (December 4) though a cause of death is yet to be determined.

Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction broke the news initially, writing in a now deleted tweet: “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.” He followed this up by writing: “Send your thoughts toward the family!”

Meanwhile, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana wrote: “Really sorry to hear about Scott Weiland” in memory of his former grunge conemporary.

Dave Kushner, who played rhythm guitar in Velvet Revolver alongside Weiland, was also among the musicians sharing messages on social media alongside Ryan Adams, Chuck D, Juliette Lewis, Myles Kennedy, Travis Barker and more. See below for a round-up of Twitter’s messages to Scott Weiland.
