Stormzy has made an unexpected disappearance from Twitter, deleting his account without apparent explanation.
The grime artist, who previously tweeted under the handle @Stormzy1, appears to have deleted his entire account from the social media platform.
Although a reason for the deletion is yet to be established, it’s believed that Stormzy is hard at work on the follow-up to ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’, his acclaimed 2017 debut album.
The deletion also comes only days after his girlfriend, Maya Jama, faced backlash for a serious of controversial tweets from when she was 16-years-old.
In the tweets, she appeared to mock dark-skinned women, although the 23-year-old has since apologised.
Representatives for Stormzy have been contacted for comment.
Meanwhile, Stormzy was today announced among the nominees for 2018’s Ivor Novello awards.
The grime star was handed a Best Contemporary Song nomination for ‘Don’t Cry For Me’, his collaboration with Raleigh Ritchie.
He faces competition from ‘Cola’, by CamelPhat and Elderbook, and ‘Question Time’, written by Grime star Dave and Frazer T Smith – who has previously worked with Stormzy.
Earlier this year, it was claimed that Stormzy could also be among the surprise names to perform at the Royal Wedding after being handed odds of just 5-1, alongside Elton John and Foo Fighters.
