Stormzy has celebrated his 25th birthday in style – by flying a group of friends and fans out to Spain on a customised #MerkyAirways flight.

The lucky few were made up of contest winners and fellow friends and artists Not3s, Krept and Konan, Lizzle Bizzle and Mo the Comedian.

The grime MC joined forces with Spotify, asking his 1.9 million followers to enter the competition, saying “we wanted to do something special for the fans.”

Described as “the next level in air-based raving”, Stomzy then went on to describe the #MurkyAirlines experience.

Posting on Instagram, Stormzy wrote: “My gs… #StormzyBirthdayBash 2018, renting out Thorpe Park was sick but we’ve teamed up with @spotify #SpotifyPremium and upped the levels to throw the maddest birthday bash. THIS WILL BE A MOVIE. We’ve done the madting.”

During the flight, Stormzy gave out safety announcements and fans were treated to #MerkyAirways goodie bags which included t-shirts, headphones and sunglasses. A video emerged of competition winners singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Stormzy aboard the plane.

It’s not the first time Stormzy has treated fans on his birthday. In 2016, he rented out Thorpe Park for 200 friends and fans.

Recently, Stormzy announced another project to give back to his fans via his Merky Books initiative.

Teaming up with Penguin Random House, he shared news of #MerkyBooks saying: “We will be using this as a platform for young writers to become published authors.”

“I know too many talented writers that don’t always have an outlet or a means to get their work seen and hopefully #Merky Books can now be a reference point for them to say “I can be an author” and for that to be a realistic and achievable goal.”

“Reading and writing as a kid was integral to where I am today and I from the bottom of my heart can not wait to hear your stories, your poems, your novels, your sci-fis and then getting them out into the big wide world. Proper proud of this! We’ll be doing school competitions, taking entries and submissions and looking for writers as well but I’ll keep you posted!”

Stormzy already has his own #Merky label and festival.
