Streets‘ MIKE SKINNER is set to work with south LONDON garage collective MORE FIRE CREW next year.
Skinner, whose debut album ‘Original Pirate Material’ will feature highly on end of year polls, has struck up a friendship with the Crew as they supported him on his tour of the UK last week.
Speaking to NME.COM during the tour, Lethal from More Fire Crew said: “Yeah, we talked about working together, but because Mike’s so busy at the minute, nothing will happen for a while. We’re looking to 2003. That would be wicked.”
Lethal also revealed that Skinner returned to his underground roots for an appearance on London pirate station Rinse FM (November 30) following a show in Bristol.
“Every Saturday we do a show on our pirate station Rinse FM,” Lethal said. “I got the DJ to call me when there was about a half hour to go before the end of the show we got Mike on. And he’s saying ‘More Fire Crew are wicked, I want to keep them with me. You might not make it back. They’re very good with smoke but they’re not very good with drinking’. It was wicked.”
More Fire Crew release ‘More Fire Crew CV’ through GoBeat Records on January 27.
