Sugababes draw huge crowd at Oxegen

Trio perform 'greatest hits' set for festival crowd

Sugababes overcame technical difficulties to draw one of the biggest crowds of the Oxegen Festival 2008 so far.

The trio, who pulled an Irish date two weeks ago amid some controversy, wowed a huge crowd at the O2 Stage, where they performed a set of their biggest hits.

They received a huge reaction from the crowd who intermittently chanted the individual girls’ names as the sun began to come out during an overcast first evening on site.

However, microphone difficulties interrupted the set midway through and the band were forced to delay their performance for some time as the problem was rectified.

As the crowd patiently waited they began to chant the name of the group’s roadie Darren who was at the side of the stage attempting to rectify the problem.

The set than continued with a run of chart hits, all sung along to by a buoyant audience, including ‘Red Dress’, ‘Push The Button’ and set closer ‘About You Now’.

Sugababes were previously due to perform in Ireland as support to Boyzone on June 28 but pulled the show due to illness. However, the trio performed in the UK as scheduled on June 27 and 29.

Sugababes played:

‘Hole In The Head’

‘Round Round’

‘Freak Like Me’

‘Don’t Let Go’ (En Vogue cover)

‘Denial’

‘Overload’

‘Red Dress’

‘My Love Is Pink’

‘Push The Button’

‘About You Now’
