The girl band's comeback record knocks Oasis off the top spot...
SUGABABES have gone straight into the UK singles chart at Number One today, knocking OASIS off the top spot after just one week.
The girl band’s track ‘Freak Like Me’ pushed ‘Hindu Times’ down to Number Four, with the second highest new entry coming from S Club Junior’s ‘One Step Closer’ who went straight in at Number Two.
Elsewhere, Canadian rockers Nickleback went up the charts again, rising from Number Seven to Number Five with ‘How You Remind Me’ and Shakira remained in the Top Ten with ‘Whenever, Wherever’.
X-Press 2 Ft David Byrne’s ‘Lazy’ went down two places to Number Seven and Gareth Gates’ ‘Unchained Melody’ was down four places to Number Eight.
Third highest new entry went to Idlewild and their new single ‘You Held The World In Your Arms’ which went straight in at Number Nine and just below them was Missy Elliott with 4 My People at Number Ten.
There were other new entries from Kosheen who went in at Number 13 with ‘Hungry’ and Chemical Brothers went in at Number 14 with ‘Come With Us’.
Novelty record ‘Wheels On The Bus’ by Mad Donna – a skit on Madonna’s ‘Ray Of Light’ went straight in at Number 17 and another new entry came from Haven who went in at Number 28 with ‘Til The End’. The only other new entries in the Top 40 came from Push who went in at Number 31 with ‘Tranzy State Of Mind’ and ‘You Make Me Go Oooh from Kristine Blond.
In the albums chart, Blue’s ‘All Rise’ had gone up from Number Two to hit the top of the charts again knocking Celine Dion down to Number Two. The only new entry in the Top 20 was ‘Muzikzum’ from X-Press 2.
