Sugababes’ Jade Ewan proposes tour with ‘Origibabes’ Mutya Keisha Siobhan

Ewan suggests old line-up and new line-up unite for live dates

Jade Ewan of Sugababes has said that she would love the band to tour with Mutya Keisha Siobhan, the original line-up of the pop group, now reformed under the new name.

Mutya Keisha Siobhan make their live debut in London tonight (August 1) with a gig at the Scala venue in King’s Cross. Ewan, currently a member of Sugababes alongside Amelle Berabbah and Heidi Range, revealed in a new interview that she would be interested in touring with MKS while also throwing doubt on the future of her own group and admitting that she thinks there is no future for the group.

“I would love to do a giant tour of all the Sugababes, old line-up and new line-up,” Ewan told Digital Spy. “That would be awesome, it would sell out. That’s easy for me to say, though, I don’t know how that would go down. But I’m definitely up for it.”

Discussing the future of Sugababes, Ewan admitted that all three members of the group were currently focusing on solo projects. “I don’t even know if the band stuff is going to happen again, if I’m completely honest,” she said. Later adding: “I think Amelle wants to do her own solo stuff, Heidi is doing a Happy Days musical… I think we’re pretty much done. I’m working on solo material at the moment, actually. It’s only come about in the past three weeks, so it’s quite a new project.”

Earlier this week Mutya Keisha Siobhan insisted that they could have taken back the name of the long-running girlband if they had wanted to. The group recently revealed new single ‘Flatline’, which was produced by Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, and features backing vocals from Fred Macpherson of Spector.

Sugababe Heidi Range can currently be seen in the new series of the BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef, which began last night (July 31). Former Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle is a fellow contestant.
