The girls shoot straight to the top of the UK singles chart with 'Hole In The Head'...

SUGABABES stormed straight to Number One in the UK singles chart today (October 19) with ‘Hole In The Head’, ending the Black Eyed Peas’ six-week reign at the top with ‘Where Is The Love’.

The first single to be taken from their forthcoming third album ‘Three’ – due out on October 27 – ‘Hole In The Head’ also triumphed over the second highest new entry, Kevin Lyttle’s ‘Turn Me On’ which hit the Number Two spot.

This week’s Top Ten was littered with new entries including 50 Cent’s ‘P.I.M.P.’ at Number Five, Emma Bunton’s ‘Maybe’ at Number Six, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Mixed Up World’ at Number Seven and a triumphant return from REM, with their ‘Bad Day’ entering at Number Eight.


Outside of the Top Ten, Erasure’s ‘Oh L’Amour’ debuted at 13, ahead of Craig David’s ‘World Filled With Love’ at 15. The Stands’ ‘I Need You’ crept into the Top 40 at 39, one place in front of Electric Six’s new single ‘Dance Commander’ at 40.

In the album chart, Dido held on firmly to the Number One position with ’Life For Rent’, despite ‘The Very Best of Sheryl Crow’ debuting at Number Two and Travis’ fourth album ’12 Memories’ coming in at Number Three.

Other new entries on the album chart included extremo-rockers Funeral For A Friend’s debut LP ‘Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation’ going to 12, S Club 8’s ‘Sundown’ at 13 and Blondie’s ‘The Curse Of Blondie’ at 36.
