The first official single from the reformed trio is produced by Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange
The original Sugababes – now known as Mutya Keisha Siobhan – have revealed their new single ‘Flatline’ – acroll down to listen to it.
The track was written by the reunited trio and was produced by Dev Hynes, aka Blood Orange, and features backing vocals from Fred MacPherson of Spector. The group previously shared a couple of low-key collaborations they recorded with Hynes: a freestyle over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ and a Blood Orange remix of Phoenix’s ‘Entertainment’ featuring their distinctive backing vocals.
Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy – the founding members of Sugababes – reunited last year (2012) to record a new album as Mutya Keisha Siobhan. The trio no longer own the rights to the Sugababes name, which is now used by a group consisting of three non-original members.
They sang live together for the first time in 12 years at a secret New Year’s Eve gig in east London. Alongside Hynes, they’ve been working on new material with songwriters and producers including Sia, Shaznay Lewis from All Saints, Naughty Boy, Cameron McVey, Diane Warren and Richard X.
