Super Furry Animals joined by special guest in London

The band gear up for Glastonbury

Super Furry Animals were joined by a special guest as they played their first London show in two years last night (June 19).

Wendy Flower, of ’60s singing duo Wendy & Bonnie, came onstage at the ICA to duet with singer Gruff Rhys on the 2003 single ‘Hello Sunshine’, which samples the duo’s 1969 track ‘By The Sea’.

The band previewed six tracks from forthcoming new LP ‘Hey Venus!’‘The Gateway Song’, ‘Runaway’, ‘Neo Consumer’, ‘The Gift’, ‘Into The Night’ and forthcoming single ‘Show Your Hand’.

The 20—song set also featured a host of back catalogue classics, with at least one track each being taken from the band’s eight studio albums to date. These included a “Teenage Fanclub-style” reworking of the 1999 Top 20 single ‘Northern Lites’.

The set was:

‘Slow Life’

‘(Drawing) Rings Around The World’

‘Golden Retriever’

‘The Gateway Song’

‘Show Your Hand’

‘Neo Consumer’

‘Into The Night’

‘The Gift’

‘Hello Sunshine’

‘Nythod Cacwn’

‘Juxtapozed With U’

‘Torra Fy Ngwallt Yn Hir’

‘Receptacle For The Respectable’

‘Northern Lites’

‘God! Show Me Magic’

‘Do Or Die’
