SUPERGRASS’ DANNY GOFFEY is releasing an album with his wife PEARL and WILL FOSTER from DELICATESSEN through ALAN McGEE’s POPTONES label, NME.COM can reveal.
The trio, who have yet to be named, have almost finished the record, which is mostly being recorded at Goffey’s home studio in London, and is slated for release in spring next year.
He also revealed that the album will feature a duet between Danny and Pearl, formerly of indie band Powder, which has a real “Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood vibe”, according to a Poptones spokesperson who’s heard it.
Speaking to NME last week, Danny said: “It’s just a change from what I do in Supergrass. You just get bored and you don’t want to get bored, do you? You need a change of scenery. This is just stuff that I’d write at home anyway on the piano.
“We’ve done a lot with Supergrass this year, but it’s nice to do your own thing.”
Danny and Pearl were previously in six-piece Lodger together, along with another Delicatessen member Neil Carlill, who released one album, ‘A Walk In The Park’, through Island in 1998.
