SUPERGRASS, JARVIS COCKER, CERYS MATTHEWS and JUSTINE FRISCHMANN are amongst the musicians who have contributed to the soundtrack to the forthcoming football film ‘MIKE BASSETT: ENGLAND MANAGER’.

The film, which receives its premiere in the UK on September 28, follows the fortunes of the fictional football manager.

The soundtrack features a new, football themed track by Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker titled ‘Everybody Loves The Underdog’, Justine Frischmann plus various members of Primal Scream in the guise of British Meat Scene, performing ‘Too Old To Die Young’ and All Seeing I & Cerys Matthews covering ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’.

Elsewhere, Supergrass provide a brand new instrumental titled ‘Oracle’ and Fat Les spin-off Sporting Les team up with Atomic Kitten members Elizabeth McLarnon and Jennifer Frost donate ‘On Me Head Son’.

The soundtrack has been compiled by Ant Genn, who as well as featuring in Pulp as a bass player, became famous within the music industry for streaking during Elastica‘s performance at the Glastonbury Festival in 1995. He has now formed a new band, Help! .

The band also features former Black Grape member Martin Slattery on guitar, Andy Treacy (Groove Armada/Faithless) on drums, Pablo Cook (Pulp/Moby) percussion and Longpigs guitarist Simon Stafford.

The group make their live debut at the London Water Rats on September 20.
