SUPERGRASS’ LIMITED RETURN

After three years away, only 1,500 of you can get your mitts on their comeback track...

Supergrass return next month with a limited edition single, ‘NEVER DONE NOTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE’, NME.COM can reveal.

The single is to be released on seven-inch vinyl on July 1 and will be limited to just 1,500 copies .It marks the band’s first new material since the 1999 album ‘Supergrass’.

Drummer Danny Goffey told NME.COM of the band’s time away: “We’ve just been living our lives really. I’ve been doing some music with my girlfriend, but just taking it easy most of the time. Gaz went driving around America for a while. We were a bit lazy! We went to the south of France last year to write songs and started work on the album in October.”

The band’s as-yet-untitled new album was recently completed at recording studios in Rye and is due for release in the autumn. Beck producer Tony Hoffer – who recorded an album of material with Suede which was then dropped – has produced the album. Songs include ‘Prophet 15’, ‘Run’, ‘Grace’ and ‘Rushhour Soul’.

Goffey said of the single: “We’re just releasing a white label with a stamp on it, like we did when we first started. It sounds really good – it’s a pretty upbeat mad sort of song.”

Supergrass will debut new material at their Meltdown festival show at London’s Royal Festival Hall on June 28. “We were going to play a David Bowie

song with White Stripesat the end of the show, but I think they are touring at the time,” said Goffey. “It would have been wicked. It’s still great to be asked to play.”
