Swans to reissue debut album ‘Filth’

1984 album to be re-released with bonus tracks

Swans will reissue their debut ‘Filth’ later this month.

The band will re-release their 1983 album as a deluxe 3CD set on May 26. The reissue will include bonus material, featuring live versions, outtakes and EP rarities.

The band released their most recent album ‘To Be Kind’ in May 2014. It featured St Vincent, Cold Specks, Little Annie and Bill Rieflin.

The album was funded by fans following a campaign by Gira in 2013 which saw him offer to write a personalised song for anybody willing to contribute money toward the recording. The majority of the money was raised from sales of 2013 live album ‘Not Here/Not Now’.

The band, who reformed in 2010, have also spoken about their next project, with Gira telling Nowness: “I want to make it into a total wipeout sonic event, performed in classical music venues. The problem is the volume; they’re not able to allow the amount of decibels that we excrete.”

Swans will head to the UK for a series of live dates later this month. See those dates in full below.

Bristol The Marble Factory (20)
