Swim Deep unveil synth-heavy new track ‘Namaste’ – listen

Band's second album 'Mothers' will be released in September

Swim Deep have premiered new track ‘Namaste’ from their forthcoming second album.

The group’s upcoming LP ‘Mothers’ will be released on September 19 via Chess Club/RCA. It is the follow up to 2013 debut ‘Where The Heaven Are We’.

Having previously released tracks ‘To My Brother’, ‘One Great Song And I Could Change The World’ and B-side ‘Hotel California’. ‘Namaste’ is named after a “reverential salutation” from Ancient India.

Listen to Swim Deep’s ‘Namaste’ via Radio 1 below. It starts at the 0.35 mark, followed by a conversation between frontman Austin Williams and host Annie Mac.

Speaking on the show, Williams described the song as a “mark of what’s to come” in relation to the record.

Williams added, “It’s a different album, and we’ve all progressed a lot. It’s a very immediate album, more a reaction to the realities that we’re in, rather than being a bit hazy about it.”

Austin Williams previously described the band’s new music to NME as “psychedelic sex music”, comparing the record to both Kanye West and Fleetwood Mac.

Williams has also revealed the ambitions he and his bandmates had for the album. “We wanted to radicalise chart music,” he said. “So we’ve taken [Kanye West’s] ‘Yeezus’ and [Fleetwood Mac album] ‘Rumours’ and put them together with acid house.”

‘One Great Song And I Could Change The World ‘
‘To My Brother’
