Swim Deep have confirmed that they are working on their third LP with a new band line-up.
The Birmingham band released their second album, Mothers, back in 2015. NME described the ‘Where The Heaven Are We‘ follow-up as “easily the best, most mind-bogglingly weird thing they’ve done”.
Earlier this year, the group gave fans an update on the status of the band. “We’ve been turned upside down and twisted around, but now we’re better than ever and makin bigger plans than eva,” they posted. They signed off by saying that they would “talk in June”.
Slightly later than planned, the band have now confirmed to fans that their third record is incoming.
Captioning a snap of a new-look Swim Deep on the beach, they said: “We’re off to a studio by the sea to finally finish the album we’ve been dreaming of our whole lives and we’re so ready to share it with you.”
The band also confirmed the departure of Tom ‘Higgy’ Higgins and Zack Robinson.
“Zack and Higgy will always be a part of Swim Deep, but it’s been a great change, and we’ve been making waves with some incredible new friends who you’ll meet soon.”
They added: “We know we got the best fans in the world and hope you’re ready for round 3. It’s happening”.
Following the announcement, the group have shared some photos and footage from inside the studio. One post shows new member Robbie playing the piano.
Last month, Swim Deep announced their first show back. They will perform alongside the likes of Everything Everything and Temples at Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester. They also confirmed that they will be “100% playin new music from our third album”.
